I'm very excited to be a part of the Javelina Project. Becoming a member of TCA has been a link of connection to the spirit of Tubac from the mountains of Montana. There is a spark, a connection, an intertwining of art spirits from Montana to Arizona. I've been coming to Tubac for many years entering art shows at the TCA, displaying my work at Tubac Art & Gifts and making life long connections in this artistic hub called Tubac.
When I was contacted to paint a javelina I was thrilled. I've painted several large polyurethane sculptures in Montana for promotional tools in such organizations as the Helena Last Chance Bear project. I'm very impressed with Nic Wilson's sculptural details on the javelinas. They were so life-like and intriguing to work out details upon. The eyes truly come to life when paint is applied. The surface jumps with detail as well.
The promotion of Tubac and surrounding areas is pushed to the forefront with the javelina sculptures and the talented artists working to create a masterpiece. They will stand out and rock the desert floor. It was a joy to paint the javelina I call "Alice Land".
